Some may say van Heerden has ‘done this before‘, having occupied various leadership roles at tech-based companies, overseeing international expansion efforts and spearheading significant revenue growth within those businesses. Prior to van Heerden’s appointment, he served as the Chief Financial Officer of the Clickatell Group and Chief Executive Officer of the Clickatell Engage Business Unit. Clickatell is a global customer engagement company headquartered in Redwood City, California – funded by leading Silicon Valley Venture Capitalists such as Sequoia Capital and DAG Ventures. Van Heerden has also served on the Clickatell Board of Directors since 2011 and has spent significant time in Silicon Valley – spearheading expansion efforts of Clickatell into UK / Europe, India, Nigeria and most other parts of Africa. Prior to Clickatell, he served as the COO of ViaMedia and as Senior Manager at Accenture in both South Africa and the UK.
