Cortex Logic to Participate in Track Speaking Programme at AI Expo Africa 2019

Cortex Logic, a division of Cortex Group, is an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Software and Solutions company that helps businesses thrive in the Smart Technology Era. We work across multiple business and industry domains seeking to augment and automate legacy processes, ultimately transforming them into intelligent systems, using the Cortex Logic AI Engine. We leverage this unique AI Engine for Business to solve strategic and operationally relevant problems by unlocking the value offered by the 4th Industrial Revolution and by mobilizing Data Science, Internet of Things (IoT), as well as Big Data and Analytics.

Cortex Logic recently announced that we’ll be co-sponsoring and, once again, participating in AI Expo Africa 2019, taking place at the Century City Conference Centre from the 3rd to the 5th of September 2019 – considered the largest B2B-focused Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Community and Trade event in Africa. This year’s event builds on the success of the inaugural event held in Cape Town in 2018, a gathering of CxOs, entrepreneurs, inventors, and investors in the region – focusing on real-world AI and Data Science business applications. Last year’s event was supported by 700+ delegates, 270+ companies, 60+ speakers and 40+ sponsors, and will see the support from large organizations such AWS, IBM, PWC, EY, Microsoft, Nvidia, Deloitte, Telkom, SAP, City of Cape Town, Wesgro and SMBs including Genii AI, InstaDeep, and Cortex Logic this year. International community members such as the ITU, WEF, French Embassy, Business France, Data Science Nigeria, Women in AI and South Africa’s Fliptin, will also be welcomed at this year’s event.

Dr Jacques Ludik, Founder and Managing Director of Cortex Logic, as well as Founder and Group CEO of Cortex Group, said, “Cortex Logic will form part of the 36 vendors exhibiting in the Expo Hall and will leverage this opportunity to engage with key stakeholders – not only to discover how our AI Engine for Business can solve their operational and strategic problems, but to discover ways in which Cortex Logic can help African youth, entrepreneurs and businesses thrive in the Smart Technology Era. We’re also excited to form part of the track speaking programme, consisting of 67 talks, keynotes and panel discussions.”

On the 4th of September 2019, Dr Jacques Ludik will host a panel discussion on Ethics, Privacy and Bias in Artificial Intelligence and will be joined by Rachel Alexander (Founder & CEO of Omina Technologies), Megan Yates (Founder of Ixio & Co-Founder of Zindi), Mushambi Mutuma (Co-Founder & CEO of Altivex), as well as Andrew Quixley (Sales Leader at IBM). Dr Jacques Ludik will also host a panel discussion on AI For Good, on the 5th of September 2019 and will unpack views from Fred Werner (Head, Strategic Engagement Division (TSB) at ITU & AI 4 Good Summit), Aunnie Patton Power (Founder of Intelligent Impact), John Kamara, (CEO of Cortex Africa & Director for Strategy at the NMI-AIST Data Drive Innovation Center, CREATES) , as well as Koen Bonenkamp (Co-Founder of Cape Town AI & Enabler).

“Africa is home to a growing number of Artificial Intelligence start-ups and also sees the adoption and deployment of AI in larger organizations growing – and, as these numbers increase, we see, in parallel, conversations around ethics, privacy and bias growing exponentially. These panel discussions will aim to unpack the power AI holds to improve not only the economy, but society as well – but importantly, how this power should be met with responsible decision-making and execution.”, says Dr Jacques Ludik.

Dr Jacques Ludik will also be hosting an Executive Workshop on the 5th of September on the Operationalisation of Enterprise AI, which will aim to guide executives and enterprise analysts, currently working with or contemplating integrating an Artificial Intelligence component into their enterprises or business units, on how to effectively (1) plan for AI Readiness and Maturity, (2) handle data, ethics, bias and privacy, (3) and, deliver personalised services and products to customers. Cortex Logic is extending an open invitation to enterprise executives and analysts to attend this workshop free of charge. By registering here, delegates will receive a complementary lunch and gain a half-day access pass to the Expo Hall on the 5th of September.

Jacques De Kock, Chief Operating Officer of Cortex Logic, will be hosting a talk on Achieving 1-to-1 Personalisation at Scale, on the 4th of September 2019. “This talk will aim to guide executives on five key building blocks for changing and improving the customer’s journey through Artificial Intelligence. With the breakthroughs in AI and Machine Learning, organizations are encouraged to rethink how customers interact with businesses in individualised or personalised ‘customer journeys’ across all channels or ‘touchpoints’. They need to go beyond intelligent customer marketing, use ‘big data’ to deliver customer insights in real-time at scale and reshape the entire customer experience to reach them at the right place and time, with the right products and services”. Cortex Logic is extending an invitation to enterprise executives and analysts to attend this workshop at a 30 % Discount, by purchasing tickets here and using the unique code “SPONSOR”.
